How to use
  • Stick it on. Apply a sticker to a clean, dry nail with no oil or hand cream and press it down firmly for a few seconds.
  • Dip your fingertip. Briefly touch the sticker to your drink, then take it out.
  • Check the colour. Watch the sticker for 10 to 30 seconds. If one half turns yellow-green, don't drink it.

Each sticker is single use. Do one at home first so you know exactly what the colours look like before a dark bar.

What it detects

It screens for GHB and ketamine and reacts to some related amine-based compounds.

It does not detect extra alcohol, benzodiazepines in every form or most other substances.

  • Milk-based drinks like cream liqueurs can show a false positive.
  • Very acidic drinks like bitter lemon or lime cordial can hide a result.
  • Red wine and dark berry drinks stain the sticker and interfere with the test.
A negative result does not guarantee a drink is safe. If anything tastes, looks or feels off, don't drink it, whatever the test says.

The Difference

Made to actually be used.

Regular test strips work, but nobody wants to pull out a clinical test card at the bar. So they stay at the bottom of the bag. Nightnail is already on your nail.

Honest about what it does.

  • Nightnail is a screening indicator, not a guarantee. It reacts to GHB, ketamine and some related compounds.
  • It cannot detect extra alcohol, which is the most common way drinks are spiked.
  • No reaction doesn't mean a drink is safe. Something could be below the detection level or not covered by the test.
  • Trust your instincts first. If something feels wrong about your drink or how you feel, leave it, tell someone you trust and get help.
Good To Know

Questions, answered honestly.

What should I do if it changes colour?

Stop drinking it immediately. Tell a friend you trust and a member of staff, as bar teams are trained for this. Keep the glass if you can, since it may be needed later. If you feel unwell at any point, get medical help straight away and don't leave on your own.

Does it detect someone adding extra alcohol?

No, and no test of this kind does. Extra spirits are chemically invisible to these tests. Keep your drink with you and pay attention to how you feel. That's still what protects you most.

Can I see the result in a dark bar?

The colour change is visible in low light, but it's worth doing one at home first so you know exactly what to look for. If you can't read it clearly, step somewhere brighter or use your phone torch.

Does it work over gel or acrylic nails?

Yes. It sticks to natural nails, gel, acrylic and press-ons. On a very glossy top coat it may lift slightly sooner, so press it down well when you apply it.

Will it damage my manicure when I take it off?

No. Peel it off slowly from one edge. It leaves no residue and won't lift polish or gel underneath.

Can I reuse a sticker?

No. Each sticker is single use. Once it has touched a drink it won't give a reliable result again, so apply a fresh one for every new drink.

How should I store them, and do they expire?

Keep them sealed, dry and away from direct sunlight and heat. Check the date on the pack and replace them once it passes, as the test loses sensitivity over time.

Is this a medical or forensic test?

No. It's a consumer screening indicator, not a diagnostic or forensic device. It can't prove a drink was spiked and it can't prove it wasn't. If you think you've been spiked, seek medical attention and report it. A hospital or the police can carry out proper testing.
